Lions Youth Haven

Lions Youth Haven (LYH) is a Not-for-Profit project of the joint Lions Clubs of Canberra and Queanbeyan. It offers several managed facilities for the Canberra community, with a focus on supporting local disadvantaged youth. It presently leases a building to The Disability Trust, who provide full care to severely disabled young people.

The Galilee School which ensures that disengaged students stay in school has its facility on LYH land and uses the services we offer.
Lion’s clubs in Canberra and Queanbeyan also support a Farm Skills Program whereby students from local high schools can spend a day a week at the farm learning social skills, animal handling, and gardening skills in a hands-on setting. This is often enough impetus needed for disaffected students to stay on at school.
Since 2023 we have been assisting a NDIS accredited organisation Here to Help (H2H), by allowing them reduced price usage of our community hall to operate a day program caring and providing respite care for young people suffering from severe autism. It is our understanding that these young people are, or have been, students at Black Mountain School, but their needs are too severe for integration in the regular school program. We have also been able to accommodate the therapy animals used to support the young people.
