Jeff & Deej Trio – Live at The Glen
May 15 @ 3:00 pm - 6:00 pmFree
Cruisy and Bluesy vibes from the bars of New Orleans to the swamps of southern Texas. Featuring the dynamic talents of Dorothy-Jane Gosper – Canberra’s “Blues and Jazz force of nature” (Rory McCartney, BMA Magazine). Her husky contralto voice is “like a full-bodied red wine” and “mesmerising, it tells a story” (Regi Su, Get Shot Magazine). Gosper has independently released nine albums over her 20 plus year career as a Musician. She has played many Australasian Jazz, Blues and Folk festivals, and is recognised nationally as a “remarkably talented blues-harp player” (Al Hensley, Rhythms Magazine). Her soloing is “hypnotic” and she makes her harmonica “strut like an alley cat!” (Rory McCartney, BMA Magazine). Also a solid rhythm guitar player, Gosper makes way for Jeff Prime’s guitar prowess to shine.
Jeff’s background is steeped in the Blues, evident in his “precise guitar playing” (Tony Smith, Trad & Now) accompanying and soloing on resonator, acoustic and electric guitars. Jeff and Dorothy-Jane are also song-writers. Seven of their original songs are on the debut album, “Blues By Candelight”. Their affinity for Traditional Blues is apparent on the album, with standards dating back to the 1920’s.
The trio includes Canberra songwriter, bassist and vocalist, Dean Edgecombe – a seasoned player whose first love is the Blues. Sydney-based in the 1980’s and 90’s, Dean played with The Convertibles, Blue Stew/Snakeoil, Blues Cartel and toured with Beachhead Blues playing festivals including Byron Bay, Thredbo and Wangaratta. Based in Canberra from 1997 Dean played with The Business, The Dynamic Lifters and more. He currently plays with The Jukes and his own band, The Seventh Sons. Dean has enjoyed some great “dep” gigs with Jan Preston, Lonesome Boogie, Mitch Woods, Finn and Doc Span.
